Gallery

This digital Gallery has three wings. The first is Wildlife. These are my two-dimensional works
which include the birds typically found in the woods, wind and water of North America.

A celebration of waterfowl and other game birds found in America's rivers, lakes, wetlands
and coastal waters are represented in the gallery of
Sporting Art

The third wing of the gallery, Watercolor Sculpture, contains multi dimensional watercolors.
This is a technique I developed  using multiple layers of watercolor paper .

October Morn
This was the result of a lesson
in reflections for one of my classes.

Image size: 10" x 14"
$350.

Scat Cat!
I conducted a lesson for my students of a single chickadee. That lesson was an inspiration for this painting.

Image size: 21"x 27"
$650.

Snows a Comin'
Flock after flock of Snow Geese cross the skies in Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge in Delaware. I chose dark clouds to showcase the white of these birds.

Image size: 10" x 14"
$350.

Steeple Chase
Returning to my car, atop a parking garage in Charleston SC., I observed Rusty Blackbirds flying about. I interpreted their aerobatics using the steeple of St Phillips church, one of many, in the this beautiful city.

Image size: 26" x 10"
$650.

Main St. Near Hertel
I obtained the reference for these Rock Doves from a
busy overpass. The bridge, however, is a recently
demolished girder bridge in Buffalo NY
of the now defunct Erie Lackawanna RR.

Image size: 10" x 29"
$750.

Common Yellowthroat
Near my home, outside Buffalo, we have an opportunity to observe a variety of warblers for about six weeks during Spring migration.

Image size:1 0" x 14"
$350.

Good Possibilities
The concept for this piece developed as I painted. It began
as a lesson about rendering metal, glass and chrome
with my students
. The nostalgic theme was developed and
completed after the truck was painted.

Image size:10"x 14"
$350.

One Last Look
If you've ever duck hunted, you know this scene.
We decided to call it a day and pick up and in they came.
This is a couple of friends hunting divers
on the upper Niagara River.

Image size: 7" x 21"
$650.

Now!
Hunting puddle ducks on another
section of the Niagara River.

Image size: 14" x 21"
$750.

Harris Goldeneyes
This is a pair of Whistlers by the late Ken Harris,
a well known St Lawrence River area decoy carver.

Image size:10"x 14"
$350.

Enough Said
This blind always fascinated me sitting in the east river
near Buckhorn State Park, Grand Island, NY. I took some liberties and
shortened it a bit adding the mallards as the point of interest.

Image size: 10" x 27"
$650.

Barnegat Light
There's a small cedar shake building in the dunes
near Barnegat Light on the Jersey shore. I wanted to
paint the lighthouse but not in the typical fashion
so I imagined it from inside the shack. I added the rain
on the windowpanes last to reinforce the look of glass.

Image size: 14" x 21"
$750.

A Day to Remember
Painted in memory of a good friend who loved
to pursue those timberdoodles.

Image size:22" x 14"
$650.

Moose
One of several characters from a Mountain man Rondeavue I attended near the Moose River in New York State's Adirondack Park.

Image size:10"x 14"
$450.

Buzzard
Another trapper from the turn of the century.

Image size:10"x 14"
$450.

Watercolor Sculptures

Rabbit Tracks
The snow laden branches of this pine tree were the inspiration for this watercolor sculpture. That, and the many rabbit tracks in my backyard. I chose the Cardinal, a favorite winter bird up north, as the focal point while tucking the rabbit under the tree in the shadows as a point of discovery in the painting. Several branches with snow are sculpted out from the painting giving the added dimension.

Image size:15"x 21.5"
$1850.

Tucked in Tight
These doves were flying in and out of an old palm tree
outside my motel room in Charleston, SC. I loved the way
the light trickled through the tree creating the striking
color value changes. Part of the larger dove and a number
of the leaves are sculpted in this multi dimensional painting.

Image size:16"x 24"
$2300.

Grand Aigrette
Good friends of mine in Florida have this awesome tree in their
front yard. The trunks in the foreground are sculpted
along with the notable leaves all of which frame
the egret in the background.

Image size:16"x 24"
$2100.

Gulp!
This piece was inspired by a visit to Horicon Marsh in Wisconsin
I thought the cattails would create a lot of dimensional excitement
to support the lone Tree Swallow.

Image size:16"x 24"
$2100.

Bubo Virgianus Giganticus
This was my first watercolor sculpture. The owl's head is at least
twice actual size. I wanted to start with something unusual
and "attention getting". It worked!

Image size:16"x 24"
$1850.
